I dont want to be a fear mongerer or spoil it for the practitioners that are offering PMMA to their patients. I've had close personal colleague share with me a case of delayed diffuse inflammatory nodules that occured 1 year post injection in the face that happened to a patient that received 6-8 syringes total of Bellafill over a few sessions. It has taken three years and multiple dozens of treatments to finally bring this patient back to a reasonable state. Apparently, their face looked like leprosy. This same doctor then shared that he knew two other excellent doctors that had similar types of reactions from their patients. I had also experienced a completely disfigured penis after PMMA injections sent from some clinic in Mexico that was beyond what I could do to help the poor patient. This case was probably related to injector technique, but nevertheless, the only way to remedy was a surgical correction. We are talking about a very, very extremely small percentage of cases; however, I would hate to be the provider that this case happened to, because you never know how people's body or immune system will react to the PMMA
Again, I don't mean to be a party pooper, and I am sure most patients will be perfectly fine. This is just a personal decision that I have made to not offer PMMA injections for breast enhancement for my patients for now. A small pea-size nodule here and there is not a big deal, and I definitely can handle those, but diffused nodules everywhere is not something that I ever look forward to dealing with.
