I think the only possible alignment to Musky\'s thinking is chronic inflammation... not inflammation after sex.

This was one of my concerns about chronic inflammation, it\'s well know chronic inflammation causes cancer. I wonder if the guy who injected himself with olive oil and years later develop penis cancer was due to this. Best bet is to google and see if other people who have had PMMA long term have had this as a side effect but I haven\'t seen any posts or article/studies saying anything about this being the case with PMMA, which is good? Still a new product tho.

If I recall, Dr. C had injected many HIV patients with PMMA for years, in the face and other places. They, as you know, have a very weak if not destroyed immune system. So if PMMA were to cause any cancer, they would be an easy target. As far as I know or have read, There has been either no cancer due to PMMA injected in HIV patients, or a very small number that was never reported...(I do not claim to have read EVERY article out there).

This is good information for me... as I\'m dealing with some inflammation and my Urologist wants to \'wait and see\' ... as opposed to using Kenalog shots to help reduce the inflammation.

I\'ll ask him during my next appointment what he thinks.

Actually here is some good information about PMMA & Cancer -- although I\'m not really sure how to read it, as it says PMMA can be a carcinogen, and then says its not likely to be a carcinogen.

However, I wonder if its a fair comparison, because I think in the use of a bone filler, I dont think you get the constant abrasion and thus the constant inflammation impact. However, I would love to set my mind at ease and believe this study more... I really would... then I could goto sleep right now for a few hours before work.

In all of the resources available, I have not heard of one proven case of cancer as a result of PMMA. And as one of the articles quoted by darkstaff mentions, this product has been used for a variety of medical purposes for 50 years, adding to the credibility of its safety profile as it pertains to cancer risk.

I think its a good thing to talk to your doctor if swelling continues for a prelonged period of time, and might be justification for Kenalog shots rather than doing nothing....

There is no chronic inflammation over years after PMMA injection - as it is during the 1st 6 months , until all the microspheres are encapsulated with collagen : the histological picture remains the same , more collagen is produced :-

The comparison between Asbestos and PMMA shows that we have no idea what\'s going on with different chemicals. The US-FDA approved PMMA because its microspheres are absolutely stable and chemically inert. Asbestos are tiny fibers, which decay over time in the body and cause not only a chronic inflammation but cancer - due its chemistry !

There is no cancer reported after PMMA ( neither from abrasion of artificial joints nor from inhalation in histology labs) - and PMMA microspheres are injected since 1989 = 23 years in > 500,000 patients faces ....

Histology after 15 years looks totally different from scaring histology after Asbestos : the body embraces smooth PMMA microspheres and many other inert chemicals - but tries to get rid of toxic Asbestos : 2 different mechanisms !!

Question about how the body embraces PMMA ... what if something where to happen to the collagen that is embracing the PMMA..

e.g. someone on ambien beating his meat hard without the ability to register pain because he is on Ambien (not saying who might have done this, but... )

Could the collagen be damaged or displaced, requiring the body many months to \"fix\"

I\'m still trying to figure out exactly what is gone in with my penis. It\'s swollen constantly, the bump on the right side is still there... no noticeable lumps per say... just occasional pain at the base and urethral pain... (like right now as I sit here and type this message).

My doctor mentioned FBG, but he wants to wait a YEAR before doing anything... not sure I can deal with this more than another month.

What if I got collagen shots? ... (ok did I just show I have no idea what I\'m talking about?)

Imo your penis should be examined by a dermatologist who has a great experience with PMMA injection and not by a urologist who has no experience with PMMA , there is one famous dermatologist in L.A. , who has > 10 years experience with PMMA (injection + complication) :-

Smartman, asbestos does not decay. It would be better if it did, it would eventually go away. It is a mineral/rock that does not go away and forever irritates the tissue it touches. Chronic inflammation over decades can lead to cancer in a small number of cases.

20-40 cc of PMMA in the penis gets vigourously rubbed during sex. That will lead to inflammation. The tissue will respond to that. That is different than 1 cc near the lip that gets no rubbing. IMHO you cannot compare PMMA in the lip or when used as bone cement as a comparison.

PMMA is not cancerous. However, PMMA can cause chronic inflammation that can lead to cancer. Therefore it is accurate to say that it is not a carcinogen but may cause cancer.

We still need to know more about long term effects and strategies to reduce inflammation/immune responses.
