For those interested in an HA filler and not PMMA - check this out

www.juvederm.com/views/voluma/

As far as I recall, it was in Europe for a while, but the FDA took a while to approve it - until finally a month ago or so. So, it has a good track record outside the usa. Also, it does large volume augmentation and it lasts for 2 years (at least). It\'s a brand name, expensive product that will clearly be more than PMMA that Dr. C uses - but I just wanted to bring it up for people who are looking into HA fillers...including myself (due to other penile issues, I am not sure PMMA is the best for me if there are other options). I haven\'t met Dr. C, but if anyone on this board has a relationship w/ the office & can bring it up - I would be very interested in his opinion. Prior HA fillers were very limited in their volumizing and duration of effectiveness. This seems to be the best of them.

I\'d try medical tourism to save cost, plus get a vacation out of it. There are websites that help facilitate it. Just make sure you add the key word \"penis,\" otherwise you\'ll find results for a lot of the more mainstream Juvederm procedures are for other body parts like lips. I\'d speculate that you could save money, even after paying for the flight and lodging to a European country.

Almost everything related to medical or cosmetic procedures is cheaper outside the US. We\'re trapped in medical price monopoly hell, paying 5-10x what the rest of the first world pays for the same medicine. The third world is given a pass to copy/steal it all.

Would you mind giving your before and after stats from 30cc? Also, do you have any decreased sensation (I\'ve heard that can be an issue), and are you satisfied with the Erect firmness/naturalness?

Thanks,
LL

I have had voluma but to achieve a natural looking increase you have to get a lot, at least 30 cc. Voluma is the best as far as HA. PMMA is maybe a better option from what I heard. I\'m personnaly very happy with Voluma. If I had the choice I would habe gone with PMMA it\'s much cheaper.

Thanks for that - wow that\'s a lot... would end up around $6-7000 for 1 round vs $2500 (if the same cc volume is necessary between Radiesse and PMMA). I am not sure if Radiesse is any safer or effective in the penis than PMMA...does anyone know? It still has particles...and still stimulates collagen - so people have had nodules and lumps in the face that cannot be dissolved too easily (except by excision). Docs like it for more deep augmentation like temples vs. Restylane which is better for smaller / thinner areas.

Oh - really? Wow - thanks hoodle. I only read that Korean study of Restylane that seemed effective (dont know long term though). The other thing about HA is that it is technically dissolvable with hyaluronidase (though it\'s not always predictable), which I thought was another advantage...but if it is going to bunch up and stuff, then I guess that is out. Oh well, that\'s too bad - I hoped that there was an HA alternative. They tend to last longer than the product advertises anyway in people I\'ve seen (and my friend is a Dermatologist who says the same - though the caveat is that they last longer in ares with less \"use\" by the face). My friend had deep sunken undereyes and she had them filled in 2008 I think - it\'s still filled for the most part. She had a minor touch up but it never went back to the baseline. That area lasts a long time...the nasolabial folds do not. I\'d guess the penis would be less...it\'s too bad the Korean study doctors didn\'t do a follow up.

Skeptical - thanks for the info - Radiesse does have particles in it (calcium hydroxyapatite), though it\'s temporary...so maybe to Hoodle\'s point, he uses that one rather than HA. It\'s like a long term temporary filler. It\'s fairly expensive here by the cc (800-1000), so I\'d be curious what it goes for in Mexico.

I believe Dr. C does offer temporary filler services for those who prefer it. I think he uses Radiesse (correct me if I\'m mistaken) although I\'m not sure what the pricing is.

HA products just don\'t seem to work well unfortunately. Because they aren\'t particulate they can move around and are even less likely to settle in tight skin areas than PMMA or fat is.

Macrolane is not that great for the shaft to be honest. Voluma is more sticky almost like if you inject some sort of glue, it will stick to the area you injected it and won\'t move. Macrolane is so thick that you can feel the difference. Voluma feels also more heavy for some reasons.
