PMMA implants are semi-permanent. After 2 to 3 years, only 20% of the filler material will be permanently remained in tissues.Regarding the use of bovine collegen a 2016 publication \"Penile Augmentation\" surveying all the different types seems to say this regarding its use:
Artefill (Artes Medical, USA), consisting of 20 % PMMA microspheres and 80 % bovine collagen, is well known and widely used [ 53 ]. The bovine collagen prevents undesired clumping of PMMA. Artefill requires that all subjects undergo appropriate skin testing.
