Finasteride Question 9 years 7 months ago #1284127708

I was fine when I was on it - then read all the crazy stuff on the internet...then went off...still fine... then got Peyronies Disease within 6 months of going off. So, who knows. Correlation is not causation. Irony is my hair on top just thinned relative to the sides and back - nobody would think i\'m \"balding\" and I just took it because I was being neurotic. 5 years later, it\'s almost the same as it was (tiny bit thinner again). I just had ridiculously thick hair until late 20s (could barely comb it dry)...now I probably have hair like a normal person.

Those collagen pills that some guys on here took before PMMA actually made my hair grow like crazy - and I had a 5\'oclock shadow at noon! It took a few weeks (and the pills are disgusting if you burp) - but maybe check it out. I stopped taking them cuz you have to take tons of them on an empty stomach & it just got annoying. I was taking biotin too, at the time. I don\'t think it affects pmma growth but the beard thing was driving me nuts.

I will add two elements to the sample:

1) I have been using Finasteride for years, with no side effects whatsoever: no reduced libido, no erectile dysnfunction, no lower sperm quantity during ejaculation, no nothing. My sexual life has not been affected in the slightest [warning: do not impregnate a woman if you take finasteride as high risks of teratogenic effects (i.e. birth defects) are undisputed].

2) Friend of mine recently experimented with Finasteride: after one month treatment his Cock was literally dead and he had zero interest in sex. All he could do with it was to urinate. Wife complained (makes sense!), he stopped the treatment and recovered, albeit slowly: he told me that his erections returned to normal after five months from the end of the treatment.

As Hoddle has said, independent biochemical/clinical/statistical studies are the best source for reliable, robust information/answers on risks, side effects, etc.

If a person is not sexually active OR they don\'t care about their sex life, it is possible they may never see care/feel any sides. If there is a percentages of people who will never experience ANY sides, then Good for them and all the best.

The bad sides were NOT reported for years if I recall, correct me again, and hence it went under the radar for years...

For me any way, I would avoid it like I would an elist implant

As Is aid above I don\'t want to get into a fin debate, but I think double blind, independent studies show sexual side effects occur in about 2% of guys.

Yet on the internet over 50% of guys seem to suffer from bad sexual side effects, including me, until I had penis surgery and suddenly I discovered my penis wasn\'t dead after all!

I plan on getting 1mg of Fin and cutting into quarters which is .25. From what I\'ve read the results are just as good as taking the entire 1mg but decreasing the risk of sides. I\'m not ale enough for surgery since I\'m not even considered a norwood 1. No one can tell that I\'m balding but me and my barber. Its very subtle, and no one can look at me and say he\'s balding because its not noticeable. But I want to do something NOW before you can tell.

But what about the guys who has taken it with no sides with awesome results? If I was to use it I would be using a quarter of a 5mg pill per day.

I had horrible sexual side effects with Propecia too and stopped it after about a year or so. That stuff was a crime to have FDA approve it, the Dr\'s prescribe and no one take responsibility for what happened to thousands of men....

Another wonderful FDA approved shit while they, the FDA, do not approve many of other great medicines...

Not going to rehash or preach on this topic again. I was prescribed Propecia and after 6 months quit due to side effects. I\'ve spoken with several andrologists and all concurred to NEVER take it. It can permanently alter the androgen receptors and render you permanently impotent. I\'m regrowing hair with zero sides. That shit is poison. Take at your own risk. Men REQUIRE DHT. Completely agree with notwhatitusedtobe.

I\'d be careful with that stuff. Do some google searches and investigate but I\'m pretty sure that finasteride has some pretty severe side effects. It can really disrupt your endocrine system, and guys have reported devastating changes to their sexual functioning and health. Look into it.

Hey new1inch wanted to say ive been on finasteride for 4 years and it worked wonders for my hairloss, Infact I recently switched to dutasteride. My hairline was going further back and wanted to get on the strongest meds available. I have no detectable hairloss, I tell my friends all the time about the medication and my hairloss and they think I\'m paranoid and crazy for thinking I\'m balding hints it works and extremely well. First and foremost, and I think everyone will agree with me, alpha 5 reductase inhibitors are powerful medications and by no means should you ever order them online without a script. Go to your doc they will write you a script and you will know for sure it\'s the real deal. The mind is powerful and while I think there may be something to this post finasteride syndrome, I think many people psych themselves out and give themselves sexual side effects. It boils down to this, is your hair important to you? If it\'s important enough to risk the side effects then go for it. It\'s really the only option for guys like us at the moment. Perhaps In the future we will get a locally active topical anti androgen, but in the meantime it\'s fin or nothing at all. -champ
